Default Issues with TBolt, will rooting fix them?

Hey guys, my girlfriend's in need of some help. Her TBolt (stock) is having issues that haven't resolved (rather, they've gotten worse) after the recent OTA update, such as apps closing when going from portrait to landscape, random sms deletion, force-restarts of the phone, and general lag/screen un-responsiveness. She's got an update available in October, as well as replacement insurance. I'm encouraging her to root, but she's worried that won't solve anything and then she'll be without a way to get the phone replaced if things go wrong. Has anyone who was having these issues recently rooted and found that it fixed them? Thanks for your input.

I had a lot of problems with the first OTA released, I just downloaded the full image of it and reflashed from the SD card, all of my issues went away. I did this to make sure I didn't have a lemon before I went ahead and rooted it. You'll lose all application data of course, and AFAIK this doesn't void your warranty.

Thanks. We'll see if we can find the image at Verizon.

This should be it, just download the file, place it in the root of your SD card, and install it from HBOOT.

I used to have similar problems when on sense based roms. A while ago I decided I liked AOSP roms better and switched to CM7, ran flawlessly and I recently switched to Thundershed 1.6.

I highly recommend you switch to thundershed, grab the newest radios here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1605557
and get IMO Lean Kernel (there's a link to it on the Thundershed page). It's fast, pretty, and really stable.
