i use kingdroid with franco r4
but i heard paranoid android is good too though i guess it lacks spen as it is a derivative of cm9 but then it also is safe to flash as it has no bug in it which bricks the phone for now if you flash it

I recommend you something based on CM9, like ParanoidAndroid. It's awesome and safe.
well if you use your phone as it is. your far more from bricking it. people who reported bricking their device are those who actually uses cwm wiping/format/erasing/flashing custom roms.

Well guys an update... I just installed PA V.2... I have to tell you guys. You are in for a real treat with this rom. Its so smooth and so sexy too (reminds me of a school crush :P) these are the steps I followed to be safe.

I was on TMT 1.4 final with LPF kernel(CF-ROOT 5.3 a big big thanks to chain fire).

1. I used PC Odin to flash rooted stock LB2.( my fingers were crossed all the time)
2. Once GB loaded it had a hell lot of FC's at the setup wizard. I knew it was a problem coz of the non wipe rom.
3. Booted into recovery cleared data/factory.
4. Rebooted into GB. Signed in Google account.
5. Downloaded Mobile Odin (I must say this is a really powerful tool)
6. Flashed abyss kernel 4.2
7. Rebooted into recovery.
8. Installed PA and hybrid gapps
9. Data/factory,cache,dalvik
10. Reboot

And VOILA ... I was thrown into the super cute boot animation of PA.

Guys, I followed these steps after reading through the forums and asking a few questions. Thanks to all who shower me light.

Regards

Thanx for this update @XeOniFiCaTiOn;

Here is the thing. I am still new to rooting and flashing ROMs and so called kernels, If it would be so kind of you if i may ask the full step by step process in doing what you have just posted above provided with all the download links. I am really into using this ROM (PA) V.2.: cool: Its just I dont see any tutorials on the web for the step-by-step process to get my SGN GT-N7000 to run perfectly on the PA. By the way, im on stock samsung ROM and not yet rooted.

I'm using Rocket Rom ICS ver.2 and I have no complain about it.
You can view any topic in the development subforum, view the comment of anybody in Rom threads and u can choose the appropriated Rom for you.
I think no best rom here. It's up to feeling of anyone

Okay. So now you have to understand a few things. Rooting is basically giving the user access to do any Read Write operations directly onto the system. Your Phone consists of 3 main files :
1. Kernel
2. OS
3. Modem

This is a simple guide for you the same way i got to do it: (This is assuming you are on gingerbread and you have backed up all your data)

1.Firstly you will need to download this software called ODIN.
http://uploaded.to/file/xt4607xx

2.Download any non-wipe ROM from this link (I personally used LB2)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1535025

3.After download is done unzip the .rar ROM file to find 3 files.

4. Open up ODIN by running it as Administrator.

5. Click on PDA and locate it with the Rooted_Stock_Odex_N7000XXXXX.tar.md5 file.

6. Click on PHONE and locate it with the MODEM.tar.md5 file

7. Click on CSC and locate it with CSC_N7000XXXXXX_XXX.tar.md5 file from the RAR file

8. Put the phone in download mode by holding down the Volume Down and Power button together for about 10 seconds.

9. let go of the buttons after you see SAMSUNG GALAXY logo.

10. confirm the prompt and continue.

11. connect the phone to the computer and it gets detected in ODIN.

12. DO not check any boxes and hit start. (it may take upto 10 minutes to flash every thing and then the new rooted OS boots up.)

13. Now we have to get a kernel with CWM on it. I chose Abyss 4.2 to make this transition to CM9.
http://www.mediafire.com/?bocr11rdfjo3iz6 (AbyssNote 4.2 kernel)

14. Download MOBILE ODIN from Play store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...VvZGluLnBybyJd

15. Unzip the kernel file and place the contents on root of SD card.

16. use MO to locate zImage file and press flash.

17. After it boots up follow the installation procedures of the ROM.
For example the opening post of PARANOID ANDROID

Hope it helps you out.

Regards
