Default Warranty and ROMs

Rooting the phone and flashing a custom ROM generally voids the warranty right? Is anyone worried about this? If we have an issue and flash back to stock before sending it in, will they know and deny warranty repair?

That thing that allows you to not have to pay another $700 if your phone develops a hardware issue
