Boot into recovery.
Vol down plus power button
When prompt (white words scrolling at top left)
Immediately push Vol up.

You could also use "Transformer reboot to recovery" app, free in Play Store

I spent hours looking for a simple way to root my TF101 - this is it.

Well done and thanks.

A suggestion: if you can check which version of CWM Recovery is installed, prompt the user for installing an updated version if you detect your failsafe old version.
This way you should avoid some of the bug reports from people flashing very new ROMs with an old Recovery.

Thank you for this tool! Using it, I was able to un-brick my TF101 after I'd messed it up. I'm back in good working order now, thanks to your excellent utility.

Default Great tool!

I was already rooted and trying the few JB ROMs out there. I decided I wanted to try good ole stock Asus ICS 9.2.1.27 US firmware to see if I could see any of the problems that some folks have posted about. I used your tool to apply the freshly downloaded full firmware from Asus and then used it to root and install the Recovery, which I quickly updated to the latest TWRP Official build. Everything went very smoothly and worked pretty much as expected, as long as you follow along with the instructions. It set me up with a nice, clean install of ICS to play with. Thanks.
