Yea... my bad, I did not think about that... it works fine, now we just need to compile a stock motoblur ICS .208 ROM, and we can mod away... at least until CM9 gets here.

Instructions for Use

Whats NEW in 2.00:
- All new touch-based routines to handle the menu, home, back & search buttons on the front of the phone using the new ICS build from Motorola.
- Code-base updated to CWRecovery 5.5.0.4.

KNOWN ISSUES:
- USB Sharing in Recovery isn't working correctly.
- The new touch controls aren't perfect. I might need to tweak handling a bit as it might take 2 taps sometimes to register and then sometimes 1 tap registers twice it seems.

Entry to recovery via Splashscreen on boot-up. The screen stays up for around 8-10 seconds and if you hit the menu button, it takes you to Safestrap Recovery.

SPECIAL THANKS TO:
  • Koush who develops such a GREAT recovery system and the makes the source available for others to use.
  • The Atrix dev team who I pulled the internal/external SD card support from
  • The Defy dev team that originally developed the Bootmenu source which I stripped down and used for the Splashscreen.

As always, let me know what you think!

Ok So I walked my father-in-law thru the steps to get the ICS update over the phone. We used VooDoo and temp unrooted his phone. We then took the OTA update. Now we used VooDoo and got his Root back. Next we uninstalled recovery via safestrap 1.09. Then we uninstalled safestrap 1.09. Now We installed Safestrap 2.0, after that we installed recovery. Next we rebooted the phone. He hit the menu button when prompted and all that eventually came up was the little Hat\clockwork symbol. He said that was all that was there. No writing no backup and restore.... just the little Hat. He pushed all buttons and combos but it would only reboot after doing so.

I need a little help. What did we do Wrong? How do we fix it?
Thank you sooo much for your time and Help.

Sound like you probably need to update busybox. Download Busybox Installer from the Play store, open it up, and install the latest version of busybox.

Heads up: The free version of Busybox Installer installs push ads, according to reviews on Play Store. That disqualifies it in my eyes; ymmv.

There is a pay version... but some of the reviews of it claims it still contains the AdMob framework.

I dunno. Proceed with caution, I guess. Maybe install the app, update busybox, and uninstall the app?

I've been using Jrummy's busy box installer for awhile now, never had a single Push Ad and I'm on the free version

Well guys I used jrummys to push busy box and it failed. I used the other busy box pusher and it worked. However it did not fix the problem. It still just shows the little hat icon very faint with NO options available. What do I do here? Do I possibly have the wrong. D4 safestrap? Also do you think the Razr safestrap might work? If you will recall the 1.09 razr safestrap worked for the D4 back in the day. So what do y'all think?

So I have a couple of questions before I go trying this. From what I read in the OP it sounds like we will not be able to restore a backup from 2.11 in 3.04. Is that correct? Let's see if I can get a step-by-step right then.

1. Boot in to safestrap recovery (2.11)
2. Back up current safestrap ROM
3. Switch system to unsafe
4. Reboot in to stock ROM
5. Use Root Explorer (or other file explorer) to move the safestrap folder from /sdcard to /sdcard-ext
6. Uninstall safestrap 2.11 recovery
7. Uninstall safestrap 2.11 app
8. Install safestrap 3.04 app
9. Install safestrap 3.04 recovery
10. Boot into safestrap recovery
11. Back up stock ROM
12. Switch system to safe
13. Fresh install of ROM (cannot restore backup from 2.11)

I installed SS3 last night and I didn't try to restore a 2.11 backup. Your steps are correct up until 12 and I didn't do any back up of the stock rom. There is no toggle to safe system now. You just enable a new "rom slot" and can even nickame it whatever you want. Once the new slot is enabled then you can flash your rom file on it. You can also select additional zips to flash. So for example I selected my rom then the gapps and it flashed one right after the other.
