You can also plug it into the charger without the dock, hear the ground loop, plug it into the dock with the dock plugged into the same charger, hear ground loop + tons of static and popping. Others are seeing the same thing, i'm not sure if all docks are faulty, but some of them definitely are.

Regardless, bluetooth should solve it, and now I won't have to plug the 3.5mm cord in and out, just drop it in the dock and start playing, which will be nice.

My Samsung HS3000 should be sitting at my house today so I shouldn't have to use the 3.5mm anymore myself, but I still want to test it cuz the Evo in the dock still puts out less noise than my zune setup did in my car.

I have a dual USB car charger, so I was able to easily compare the phone plugged into the dock versus plugged directly into the car charger. There is definitely more noise on the dock.

Default Buzzing sound between songs

But today I also noticed a Static (1 second) Static (1 second) Static (1 second) Static (1 second) that was only noticable when my phone was in the dock, plugged in, no music playing (in between songs) AND the beats audio logo was visible (beats was off, I do not use it). Beats logo goes away (when there is more than a second or two of silence) and the static stops. I'm not sure if the static is stopping then because the beats signal processor is turning off, or because the phone is turning off power to the headphone jack. If it is the beats processor turning off, I could try to make a mod to always keep it off (I don't use it anyway).

Is anyone seeing this static (static, not whine) while plugged in but NOT in the dock?

Is this what the OP is seeing? How about the rest of you?

Same problem, heard it today, (week old HTC Evo Lte). I could hear the pitch changing whine sound but mostly just the staticky white noise until the next song starts. Previous to that I did experiment with the Beats audio setting but switched it back to straight beats enhancement.
Have there been problems with BEATS? I'll try switching it off/changing it.
Thanks for the info.

This is a dock issue. It cannot be fixed without either ditching the dock or the auxiliary cord. I decided to go the bluetooth route and keep the dock. Cost me about $30 and I actually like it a ton, drop the phone in the dock, start playing music, no cords to deal with.

Something you all should know. 80% of cars and/or chargers do not have a ground isolation circuit with the accessory/cigarette port output. The noise is normal, infact it has made noise on the galaxy s 3/galaxy s2/HTC desire/HTC evo 4g/htc evo lte. The issue is caused by the ground circuit in the charger vs the signal ground via aux cable/dock. I have been a car audio installer for 9 years and have been around android since the evo 4g. This is not an android issue nor an htc issue. If you install a ps3 to a dvd on your car most likely you will get the same type of feedback especially if you have a power inverter or any high current transformer installed. Solution? Why yes ,there is a few
1. Buy a car charger with built in isolators, honestly this is hard to find since they do not advertise isolated chargers. With a good charger this may cut down or even eliminate noise and feedback
2.buy a 12v ground loop isolator and wire it behind your cigarette/accessory port. This method is my favorite because it usually eliminates ALL noise.
3.use blutooth instead of aux

12v vehicles have very unclean power, and since its direct current its almost impossible to.stop noise from high current wires so the best solution is to filter it with a ground loop isolator. I hope to help some of you with that really irritated problem.
