Default ST18a

Hi
Can somebody post a link to stock (rootable) rom for ST18a?
Are ST18i and ST18a use same firmware? What about baseband version for different carriers?

Smile CM9 on st15i without unlocking bootloader..

I red many threads on xda and other forums. but every one sayingh that i have to unlock bootloader first to install custom rom on my xperia mini. I tried various methods but all goes wast as it stuck on SE logo. its not even getting into cwm.
1 st I downgraded to .42 from .62 (flashtool 0.9.0.0) then rooted it(s1c zergRush).
later installed Xparts and cwm via it,
(When I did 1st time it was easy to enter recovery but its not going to recovery now..!! .)
then copied CM9 in memory card and and tried to boot Cm9 but goes waste as it stuck on SE logo. please help
I dont want to unlock bootloader my device is new and i dont want to loose warranty.(It onli 2 weeks I brought my mini)

xda-developers are great thanks..

You need to unlock your bootloader when installing CM9 because it has its own custom kernel (or other compatible kernel).
It won't work on stock kernel that's why you stucked on SE Logo.

Info 2 Do I must flash to GB before rooting?

hi,
I have installed ICS 4.0.4 using PC companion. But I wanted to try CM 9 or 10. But using custom ROMs means flashing and wiping all of my data. Now, I am not worried about apps but i need my app data. For that, the only software i got is Titanium back up which needs rooting. So what was my plan is, first root then Backup and then install CM. But in this process for rooting, One need to flash GB or 4.0.3 (as i saw in another forum) which will wipe my apps( i think ! ). So I am confused about what to do.

Plz help.

SE Xperia Ray (ST18i)
Version - 4.0.4

Ok. one more question Which is the safer method to unlock bootloader?
1)flashtool or 2) email to sony for key?

@dragonclawsaresharp,
Thanks to your tutorial, I've managed to unlock bootloader, downgrade to .42 (from ICS) and root my Wife's ST15i.
I have to say that the learning curve to root/ install recovery/flash custom ROM/ kernel is much different and the learning curve is pretty steep for the SE Xperia series as compared to my HTC.
One question. Do i have to flash a custom kernel (XKernel/rage) with every ROM available in the Dev section? Are'nt kernels part of flashable ROMs in Xperia devices?.... BTW, i intend to flash Gustavo's smultronic after i figure out the last step as to how do i get CWM into the ST15i...
Thanks you xperia guys, you must be real nerds to figure out how to root & mod your phones....

I think all methods are safe as long as you do it correctly.
Go to Sonymobile Site, follow the instructions correctly
and enter your IMEI to get your device key.
