[QUOTE=bbsrailfan;27174008]I bought it! Had been to a spice store to have a first look at the device. Was pretty much impressed and finally bought it. Here are some impressions gathered from an overnight engagement with the device:

Some Pros:
  • The device has 320MB of user-available RAM after a fresh reboot. My Xperia X10 usually has 120-140 MB after a fresh boot.
  • Installed NFS Hot Pursuit, worked perfectly. (but crashed after 7-8 minutes)
  • Build quality is somewhere in the bracket (average --- good).
  • Camera quality is pretty decent, though you need to play around with the settings to get a good shot. (Sample Pic)
  • Flash is extremely powerful and takes some really bright shots even in complete darkness
  • Excellent battery life. I have been using it quite heavily since last night and battery drop is around 50%. (3 hrs of 3G browsing + 1 hr of 2G calls + 1 hr of music thru earphones + 15-20 photos + misc meddling around with phone)
  • Call clarity is very good and volume earpiece as well as loudspeakers are satisfactory
  • Updated! Video call/Skype: Video calls on skype work perfectly. Full marks here!!!
  • Updated! HD Video playback: Capable of playing short clips in 720p resolution. Also plays full movies in 720p but framerate drops and playback is slightly choppy.

Some Cons
  • The proximity sensor issue was present, much like the Micromax A75 and Karbonn A9. It can be sorted out using the last 2 methods (option 4 & oprion 5) provided by prasad12ka4 the Karbonn A9 thread.
  • Updated! Initially it used to reboot very randomly. After a couple of days of 'running in', it's stable! No more reboots.
  • Music quality is mediocre at best
  • Forget gorilla glass. The screen is not even scratch-resistant.
  • Lots of bloatware (atleast till I get my hands on the root)
  • Updated! Video is recorded only in 3GP format. (Resolution: WQVGA/854x480, framerate: 30.14 fps, bitrate; 1200 kbps)
  • Updated! Sample Video Here!

Development Scenario
  • ADB Drivers are available HERE (thanks to sheraz1015)
  • I spent the entire night trying to get the phone rooted. None of the common methods (SuperOneClick, Doom's RootKit, unlockRoot, GingerBreak.....)
  • Will be trying this method from the Karbonn A9 thread once I reach home. Will keep y'all updated.

Thanks [/QUOTE

Thats right. But still go here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598

The first post mentions the alternatives and also the universal root's apk at the end of the post. You can try it or the alternatives.

Also have a look at this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1472026

I have installed ADW launcher & HTC Sense theme as a replacement for the stock launcher. The stock launcher just not worth.

I am using Aircel 3G for internet on my primary SIM and Reliance GSM on secondary sim for calls. While on wifi tether, my laptop shows that it's connected to Aircel, but no data transfer actually takes place till I end the call.

This means the phone is dual sim but not dual standby. Correct me if I am wrong.

It's dual-sim, dual-standby.
It's not dual-active.

Not sure what exactly you mean by 'Dual Standby'. It has both SIMs active simultaneously. But you won't get a 'Call Waiting' warning on SIM2 if you are already on a call on SIM1.

WHat I want say is that .... if I am downloading from bsnl 3g and in mean time I have to call by docomo sim then should I have to stop downloading before calling or it will resume automatically or download will start from docomo sim.
Is there any option where I can choose bsnl sim before starting browsing...

Pro Tips:
You can enter fastboot by pressing and holding vol+ and power buttons when the phone is powered off.
By pressing vol- and power button in the powered off state, it is supposed to enter recovery mode but it displays some weird text "ENTER QPST DOWNLOAD" mode. (EDIT: OK, QPST stands for Qualcomm Product Support Tool, mostly used for hardware-level configuration)

I am now pretty sure root can be achieved by using the method described HERE...

Till now i have succeeded in flashing the recovery.img but i can't get the phone to reboot into recovery as the proper ADB drivers are still missing. I have tried several different drivers but everytime I scan for the device (using adb devices command), i get a blank respons. ADB doesn't recognize my phone. I am sure the solution is somewhere round the corner.

Would wait for ur root try.

Seems most of the other things are positive.

I think a good quality scratch guard would work for gorilla glass. You already said the internal ram is 512 so sufficient. Did u try using app2sd? How is the random read/write performance? Will higher class sd card improve the performance?

I think I would go for this phone once we have favourable information.
