This might be WAAAaay out in left field, but I have a hunch that the BP Tools could be (at least partially), a clue to the linchpin holding us back from a proper Boot from cold powered-off into true CWM (as an option, not all in our all out, eg., J.Y. daddy's solution of always booting into it).

There are quite a few interesting threads discussing the strategies that the DEV's were considering, when they were still trying to get around the locked bootloader on the Atrix 4G. For instance, take a look at this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1289254

and then... take a look at this one:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...bootstrap.html

I sent a Tweet to Kouch today (he's the guy that created CWM, Rom Mgr, etc.) asking him to explain the BP Tools to me, or else point me in the right direction. (I know, it's like a blind man asking for directions across the Himalayas).

Don't worry though, I'm the only fool in this conversation (I didn't imply I'm "working with" anyone else, lol). He's a busy guy, I know, but I might start reading up on Hash's old posts as well --- unless this is an obvious Red herring.

==================================================

One last thing, I'll just post some links here, to the most recent compiled versions of the Clockwork Mod Compiler, in case anyone here would rather just throw it up onto a Debian VM to see what they can build from CM source as well?

https://code.launchpad.net/~lithid/+...iric1_i386.deb
https://code.launchpad.net/~lithid/+...ric1_amd64.deb

And for those who don't mind dabbling into the "Bazaar Version Control System", I'll just state that if I can grab the code from the git repository, then probably ANYONE can. And there really doesn't seem to be all that many files and lines of code to this thing anyhow...(see the below directory structure, that I was able to explore from within the Bazaar GUI)

==================================================
This is sort of a long shot, perhaps, but I'd rather be embarrassed , and still know I left no stone unturned ;)

Best Regards,
Paul
Good read, thanks. What we have discovered is that we can replace recovery without unlocking the bootloader. The problem is that Moto uses a weird format for the recoveries that makes it impossible at this point to modify or recreate them. You always end up with a file smaller than the original, and it won't boot.

I built CWM from the cm7 source, but once again it will not boot because of what they have done.

This may be a pointless post, but I was reading this thread and noticed y'all talking about BP Tools. I'm not sure exactly what it is used for either, but I did notice that when I connected it to my computer after booting the phone it installed a USB modem, a LTE BP modem, a QC BP modem, a QC Diag Port, a USB network driver, and a MOT Composite ADB Interface.

Also I have the Atrix 4g, and when I unlocked it I did some research on the bandwidths found that the phone can actually pick up CDMA and GSM bands if configured to do so using RadioComm while in BP Tools....

Food for thought I guess.

So idk if this was asked previously because i didnt read through this whole post yet. If this was achieved what would be the difference from bootstrap to this? Obviously itd be awesome to not have to fxz anymore. But would we be able to do anything else by using an actual recovery?
