I'm running 4.0.3 on Galaxy S2 (UK), phone is crashing randomly, only way to turn it back on is to remove battery and start again. On my 2nd handset as I've sent it in for repair once, got given a replacement hand set, due to them damaging my original handset (another story), only had this 2nd handset a week and same thing has started happening again.

Is anyone else having this problem, I'm starting to think it's the ICS 4.0.3 build, not playing nice. Any suggestions?

Thank you all in advance for your help.
It seems your phone may be over heating and the safety is kicking in by turning phone off. I am not sure unless you can give more details. But i think if you install cm9 kernel, then the cm9 nightly. Then wipe data, wipe sd card, and then install latest ressurection remix v2.4 rom, then this issue will most likely be solved if it is not hardware related. Just follow the guide for installing cm9 nightly, then insyalling ressurection remix afterwards is easy.

Read what you wrote!
You had problems before, now same problem came back on different phone... Get the idea!

It's you doing something stupid every time.

To save you third phone,
learn how to do a full wipe.
Learn how to flash stock ROM using Odin.
Wipe again after flash.
Use it as is with no restores or unwanted apps and kernels.
After a week if your phone works...... you know the rest.

Default Having same problem

I am on wanamlite odexed stock rom (xwlp7 4.0.3) which i installed after a soft brick...

For last week i am having this problem,,,random shutdown.,.,,,sometimes with an automatic restart (which i know by android assistant app's startup time notification) ,,,,and once or twice with a drastic battery drain...

I was not having this problem before few days...

Can someone tell the exact reason of this,,,,bytheway I am planning for a custom ROm,,,,will that be helpful..

Thats what always happens to custom Roms....maybe you could find another similar Rom? That might help.

Your media scanner is running amok due to a different file structure from previous rom. Do not use rom manager to install a custom rom on our specific sgs2 model. Also do not flash until you have done a format, complete format in mounts and storage. Before flashing new rom and kernel, use ultimate kernel cleaning script. All will be mellow if you wax it this way.

Nobody does anything stupid, we simply learn by making mistakes. You also learned this way. If nobody had courage to make mistakes there would be like 1 person with a custom rom. Very rude dood.

Where was I rude?
Saying you might be doing something stupid every time is rude?

Well read this and be happy...
You might be doing something wrong every time.

No worries bro whatever rocks your world. Not that you know what he is doing wrong or even bothered to ask before telling him he is doing something stupid. Anyways, i suppose you know all and see all. So, yeh keep it up bro i am sure you arent hurting anyones feelings or turning them away from flashing roms. Your a great help and you should be proud to be so wise and condescending. Rock on.

Oh and you never said he might be doing something stupid, you said, "It is you doing something stupid everytime." And you know the tone you used, so please do not be so condescending to somebody who is struggling. Rude yes, very rude. Good Day to you and that is all I have to say about bad attituded, now can we please get back to helping people and not being rude and throwing a tantrum just to boost the ego. Thank you. Goodbye.

1. Go back from the start, flash stock ROM via Odin..
2. Flash insecure kernel to get rooted and for CWM..
3. Flash custom ROM..
