Smile [Q] Would this root method work?

http://www.pocketables.com/2011/06/h...id-device.html

Do you think this would work for root? I'll have my phone tomorrow afternoon and would like to immediately root that sucker.

Probably not. Give it a few days. I'm sure the devs are cooking up or porting some great things.

Whats the flash counter? Is that something like the "TAMPERED" stamp on the HTC One X's?

Yes. Its samsungs way of tracking whether you have installed an Unauthorized ROM on it. Usually there is a way around it on most phones using TriangleAway app from Chainfire. But for this new SG3 i doubt its compatible.

Yeah the flash counter will count every time something is flashed via download mode (i think) so when you send it in with a ticked flash counter, they know you dicked with your phone

I posted a little blurb on it in the Dev section, but yeah everyone above pretty much summed it up. When you start messing with recovery and kernels, it'll trigger that bad boy.

Folks on other devices have found ways around it, and I'm confident that they will on our new babies as well - but it won't be overnight.

I followed the method in

[18.06.2012] CF-Root 6.3 - SuperSU+CWM5.5+CWMManager - xda-developers

and was done in about 25 seconds and it was my first time.

EDIT: ** Sorry I think the guide i posted only works for international version so I don't think it will work with yours....**
