That wasn't working. I've used Nova for months and over many different ROMs, so I'm well aware of how to restore widgets. However, the issue was:

For some reason, it was not prompting for root. What I wound up doing was uninstalling, re-installing as a user app, and then it finally prompted me for root. I was able to restore my widgets then.

There's an option under the Backup/Restore menu to "Restore Widgets Faster"

Enable this and then you just click the first widget and the rest will restore.

Nova Settings > Backup

Ah, I've had that happen too. In my case, I have "Kill app back button" enabled in Developer options. When at the homescreen, if you hold it, it will kill the launcher and restart it. This fixed my issue once with it not asking for root.

And I only do Nova over Apex because I didn't yet know about apex and I bought Nova Prime. I don't want to have another app (especially one that's a little more expensive) just get "thrown" away.

Nova restores widgets. Apex does not. Makes flashing ROMs that much easier. Normally. This is the first time I've had a problem with it.

it's the same base as 2.0 just things added. the only things that were removed dealt strictly with google only.
