Default [3.0+] LilyPad HD - floating instant message client

Hey guys,

We just released a new version of LilyPad HD. For those of you not familiar with the app, it's a floating IM client. Though this app is intended for tablets, I found it to be just as useful on my Galaxy Nexus. If you have ever been in a situation where you are surfing the internet or looking up directions and you get a message from your friend, you have to switch away from that app to reply to them. Well, with LilyPad HD, you never have to do this again. LilyPad HD floats on top of all of your active apps and lets you chat with your friends without ever leaving the app you're working on!

In celebration of Google's 'Longest Day' sale, we've dropped the price of LilyPad HD to only $0.99! Be sure to grab it while it's cheap!

Features:
-move it anywhere on your screen!
-Adjustable/resizable chat windows
-Quick Hide Mode: double tap action bar to enable quick hide mode
-Minimize chat windows completely
-Tabbed chatting for multiple conversations

Client Supported:
-Google Talk
-Facebook Messenger
-MSN

Upcoming client support
-Skype
-Yahoo
-AIM

Great work, just bought!
One thing though that is really missing is an option to not show in the notification area the "buddies list" as it's not necessary and takes useful space...there should be an option to choose as to remove that! Please fix!

In time, when we press the physical "back" key I think it should close the current window as any other app.
Thanks!

Hi GTO. I just saw your market comment. Let me explain why its necessary to have that notification. You see, the app is running as a service. Because it lives on top of other apps (unlike traditional apps) it would often be automatically be killed by Android. We need a persistent notification present so that we tell Android not to kill the app. This is how these floating apps have to work. I hope you understand the need for it. Thanks.

Hi Anyman07,

Thanks for the explanation.
One question though: If I make it bulletproof using the V6 Supercharger script would it still need to be in the notification?
If so, it there could be an advanced options for rooted phone.
Thanks again!

Unfortunately this isn't really a high priority for us right now. We don't want to start getting into the rooting scene just yet. We believe, and I am sure many of our users will agree, that there needs to be a quick way to get back to the buddy list so that you can chat with your friends. There's really no use for the app if every time you want to chat, you must first close the app you're using to get to the homescreen to launch LilyPad. Sure there are shortcuts and things like wavelauncher to help expedite this process, but we're targeting the general people here. Plus, we would have to ensure that ever root user has 'bullet-proofed' LilyPad and that could get messy. So we'll take your suggestion into consideration but there's a lot of other stuff that we need to perfect before making a separate option just for rooted users. Thanks.

Ayman

I've got your point, it's just a suggestion anyway! Thanks for the response!
If you could make the floating window stop appearing when we connect or disconnect from wi-fi would be great though.
Thanks!
