Talking [GUIDE] Downgrading from ICS to Gingerbread i9000

I write this guide to help you, since I've had problems downgrading from ICS to Gingerbread.

Things you need:

1. Samsung drivers
2. Stock Gingerbread firmware with individual files (including bootloaders) I used JVZ Firmware
3. Odin

Procedure:

1. Install Samsung Mobile Drivers
2. Open Odin
3. Get the phone to the Download Mode by pressing(VolumeDown+Home+Power) buttons and connect the phone to your PC (your phone should be recognized)
4. Select PIT (usually 512)
5. Select BOOTLOADER (APBOOT)
6. Select PDA (CODE)
7. Select PHONE (MODEM)
8. Select CSC (CSC)
9. If 'Re-Partition'is not checked under 'Option', check it.
10. Press the Start button

Note:
If you want to upgrade to a later firmware (eg JW6 - It has only one .tar file),

1. go to the Download Mode again select the file under PDA.
2. DO NOT select the PIT, BOOTLOADER, PHONE, CSC files.
3. DO NOT check 'Re-Partition'.
4. Press the START button.

Hope this post helped you.
Please press the thanks button if you like my work .

Default Stuck!

Your posting is very timely! Wife's i9000 on CM9 is acting up (wifi loop, random rebooting, and low memory errors). So I want to downgrade to my nandroid back-up with CM 7.1 or at least fresh install CM 7.2. BUT I keep ending up with my back-up on top of CM 9 boot and then getting stuck with a boot loop.

I'm guessing I need to revert to a Gingerbread boot then I can restore the nandroid backup or then upgrade to CM 7.2. I read your posting but I'm not clear where I can get the needed bootloaders. Would be great if I could skip reinstalling stock and just go straight to CM 7 (whatever version) as then I wouldn't have to reunlock the bootloader.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

The problem could be the version of CWM... both are v5? they said that nandroid backup of cwm 3 have some issues on cwm 5 (CM9 comes with cwm5).

adding the bootloader, imho isn't necessary. personally I never use them, just PDA+MODEM+CSC.

512.PIT is mandatory (yaffs2 -> rfs) , GB bootloader won't do any harm.
In case the update sequence was Froyo -> ICS, downgrade to GB will require GB bootloader.
