Default My thoughts after a few days

First off the display itself is the best one I have seen on any Android tablet hands down. Their is no back light bleed at all. Text and images are razor sharp. With that said The Ipad 3 still has a slightly better screen. The Ipad 3 is still sharper and clearer. The tablet itself is not too thin or thick. It is about the same weight as the Ipad 3. But it is heavier than say the Samsung Tab 1 or 2 or the asus TF 300 or prime. Sound is loud and clear. ICS is fast and responsive not too much lag. The one thing that is a con is the same issue that the Acer A510 had. After say 30 minutes of use the right side of the tablet gets hot from the battery. The A510 and now the A700 do this. I have used tons of Android tablets like the Tab and the Prime and the TF 300 and they do not do this. It is a nice matte black on the back with a slight texture to hold it firmly in your hands. I would give it a 8/10 I can get used to the Hot battery thing I think. All in all a good all around tablet...

OK so after using it for a couple of days I have to say it is a great tablet. By far the best one I have had. And I have had about 4 other ones. The only real flaw I can give it is the heat from the battery after heavy use. It doesn't get as hot as the Acer 510 tablet did but it does get warm. The screen is really really sharp. Text is really clear on this. And it has no back light bleed at all. The Tablet with the stock launcher can at times be a bit sluggish. But if you install a 3rd party launcher like Apex or Nova it screams and is butter smooth. Also its not the lightest tablet out their. The Asus TF300 and Prime are lighter as well as the Galaxy tab 10.1 and Tab 2. Its about as heavy as the Ipad 3. So again anyone looking to get the current best tablet for Android I would say the Acer A700 fits that bill nicely...

I agree. It kicks ass. The screen is superb. With Nova launcher it flies on the desktops.

It does get hot.

After the initial 24h when things settle down, almost all lag is gone.

I do have the lower left side of the screen that is a bit brighter than the rest of the panel, but it is not what I would call back light bleed, just a bit yellower than the rest, only visible on light greys and whites.

I get around 7h of screen on time when using it heavily, so might go up to 8h when using more casually.

Not the best battery life, but good enough for being a couch potato...

I got mine on Thursday from Amazon, and so far I love it! The 1080P screen is AMAZING, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to anything less. It does get warm in the lower right corner when being used intensively, but so did the Asus TF300 I sent back to get this one, the Asus TF300 got even warmer in fact, though the TF300 got hot up top around the camera. I am not sure how the other user got a cool TF300, after playing games for an extended time mine sure wasn't.

I'm sure any little bugs will be worked out with future firmware updates. Oh, no backlight bleed at all, the Asus TF300 had it, some just a bit, some a lot. I guess the new Toshiba Excite is even worse, so far the ONLY Android tablets out there without any bleed are the Acer tablets. All in all, it's a great tablet! Is it perfect? Nope, but you won't find a perfect one out there, they just don't exist.

Edit-I'm using Apex Launcher with it.

Dam just when I thought I would keep it. Well I can say without a doubt that the A700 DOES NOT have gorilla glass. Mine has a small scratch already on the glass. Just noticed it a minute ago. I know from past experience that gorilla glass is pretty much bullet proof for stuff like this. The glass on the A700 scratched way way to easy which tells me it does not have it. Mine is going back to amazon. Dam I really liked this tablet too. But for me no gorilla glass is a deal breaker. I'm way way to clumsy not to have it. Oh well. I guess will wait and see if the Asus tablet coming out with the 1920x1200 res will have the gorilla glass....DAM IT!

I am guessing you didn't put a screen protector on. Gorilla Glass is certainly scratch resistant, but not scratch proof, scratch proof glass doesn't exist. I'm sorry that happened to you, but I wouldn't give up on it because of that.

The Asus coming out? You're going to pay 600 bucks for the 32 GB version, there is also a user on here from Switzerland that has a TF700 (they're out there already) and is not that impressed with it, it has a cheap, plastic feel and creaks and flexes WAY more than a "premium" tablet should. Good luck with whatever you do though!

A700 glass is shatter proof, not as scratch proof as you'd think, there are multiple videos of people rubbing a quarter on it to prove how awesome it is and coming our disappointed. ,y roommate has the excite which is gorilla glass and he already has a nasty gouge in it, he's returning it for the a700. By all means return it since u can't really fix the screen now, but know gorilla glass isn't invincible.

Screen protectors have touch issues on the new Acers, or is that only certain ones?
