This controller implements three distinct speed ranges and protocols: 2400 to 115,200 bits per second (Serial IR or SIR), 4
Megabits per second (called Fast Infrared or FIR), and 16 Megabits per second (called Very Fast Infrared or VFIR). Initial
communication starts at 9600 bits per second, and negotiations proceed either faster or slower as the link strength allows.
