[Q] Sony Ion or Samsung S3 ?

I'm thinking to buy either an Ion or an S3. Have anybody (on the forum) compared them side by side? I've seen few reviews and they all say the S3 is better overall compared to the Ion. For example:

I was playing with the S3 today and really liked it. I tried later the Ion (just very briefly) and dragging the top notification bar seemed slower. The rest of the performance looked about the same. I didn't get to try the camera or any apps on the Ion

I like that the Ion's screen is a bit smaller (although the phone is ticker)

Are there any signal issues on either phone (gsm/lte/wifi/gps)?

I will most likely put a custom rom on either phone. Probably S3 might have a better support for that (more devs). I want to get the Ion but the more I read about it the more I see I should go with the S3 (the 100$ extra is not an issue at all for me)

While I have compared the two phones, and I like the look & feel of the Ion more than the S3.

When most people downgrade the ion vs the S3 they complain about gingerbread. Which isn't a issue in my book. My issue is the battery more than anything else. I like having a stand bye battery, and I cannot do that with the ion. Then there are the potential freezing that can occur, and if you don't know how to do the hard reset that can be scary.

The mic is better on the S3 as well.

I am waiting on the xperia gx (basically the ion with a removable battery).
