Default [Q] So are we all keeping our A700, or are we sending them back to Amazon?

I have read a lot about the heat and reboots. And that amazon suspended selling for a few days, and now they are 50 bucks cheaper than when I initially ordered it.

So it is a bust? Will a new custom ROM help it? Or are we all thinking of sending them back?

DONATE TO ME
I've had contact with Acer and they state that the tablet should not randomly reboot while having it in your hand. I'm sending my tablet to Acer for them to have a look at it. Also, my screen seems to have ajusted a little because of the heat. When booting, the brightness is going to 100% and with the black background (which is normal), you can see some kind of glowish corner on the bottom right. When pressing softly on the back, you can see it getting slightly more glowish (this happens also on the upper left corner, but that's normal I guess. Didn't happen on the other corners though..?). It's not that noticable, but it looks like something is pushing the display a little and when pushing the back softly strengthened it. You can't see it when using the tablet normally, neither will you see it very well in daylight, but still it concerns me. I want a replacement tablet, not a "we (may) have fixed your tablet (and the glow is still there)"..

Edit:
Check out this photo:

The ambient light is on the upper left is just a reflection. The bottom right is certainly not. This photo was taken just after the tablet rebooted itself (playing games for an hour whilst charging (just to test if it would crash. It took a while this time).

The price is still the same as before on Amazon as far as i can tell. While the heat issue does suck i guess you have to make the choice if you need to return it. If its really that bad for you then you should return it and go with the Asus. I don't know what I'm doing at this point, still have some time to decide.

I'm really bummed to say it, but I'm reluctantly throwing in the towel and will be returning the A700 this coming week.

My decision came down to heat. While it's "usable" now, excessive heat over time will cause greater wear & tear on the base components. I don't want to take on that risk over time, especially since I'm much more of a power user.

Yeah, I am going to send mine back as well. Probably July 2nd is when I will send it back.

I will miss not having a tab until the Infinity comes out, but it seems that buying the Infinity is the best choice for me...

i bought mine at microcenter went 110 miles one way to get it and this thing is having issues keeping up with typing using google voice, comcast tv doesn't work, it gets hot as hell when watching 1080p videos and the response on the touchscreen sucks you gotta tap it pretty hard to get it to respond 80% of the time and on top of that microcenter is no longer selling it.

so i am done.

It seemed odd from the start the 700 was priced the same as the 510.

my tablet also has that glow at the bottom right where it gets hot and it also has bubbles in that area when you press on the screen.
