Default Virgin Mobile Tips and Tricks

FM Radio

So the VM One V comes integrated with the FM chip and on the software side with the radio service, but not with the apk.

Download the apk from the bottom and push it with a file explorer such as es explorer to system/apps. Make sure to have root and make partition writable under the setting of the program.

Eliminating Boot Animation

With a file explorer with root capabilities make the system partition writeable then navigate to System/customize/resource Rename the files BoltAnimation.mp3 and SPCM_bootanimation.zip to anything you like

e.g. DisabledBoltAnimation.mp3

This will disable the animation of the Virgin Mobile on start up and might speed it up slightly

Default FM Radio Fix for VM One V

Thanks for this info, but can you explain exactly what you mean by "Make sure to have root...".
Also, does this fix apply to the CDMA version of HTC One V from Virgin Mobile - USA?
Thanks.

Question 1: make sure your phone is rooted, or you can't edit the files.

Question 2: read the thread title.

The radio apk didn't work for me.. just says "application not installed".

Is it because I'm running CM9?

**nevermind I just saw that I have to push it...

**ok it's installed but crashes when I open it.. even after a reboot.

The FM radio fix is what I'm interested in, and that only appears to require adding a file rather than editing.
Also, the thread title doesn't appear to distinguish if this fix is for the CDMA version or GSM version of the VM One V.
So, I'm still wondering whether using the ES Explorer program is the only thing I would need, or if the rooting procedure is still required (which I have no idea how to do), but I don't want to void the warranty on a new phone which I haven't even bought yet. I'm still trying to figure out whether the phone will have a usable FM radio if I should buy it.

This is only for stock sense not cm9 or cm10

All vm phones are CDMA. The gsm version is what was released to other international carriers.

As for the radio, you'll need to be rooted so that you can push the apk as a system app, instead of just installing it.

If you're interested in rooting, check out the devs forum, there's a good tutorial. It's very easy to root this phone, and there are some decent roms for the CDMA version, thanks to the hard working devs.

You can just get the apk from HTC hub, and the iPhone 4s is a world phone.
