Read this "Hackers welcome.

Have at it: It's easy to root (and rooting won't void your warranty). Everything opens with standard screws. Hardware hackers can create their own peripherals, and connect via USB or Bluetooth. You want our hardware design? Let us know. We might just give it to you. Surprise us!

Specifications:

Tegra3 quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB of internal flash storage
HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth LE 4.0
USB 2.0 (one)
Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
Android 4.0 "

I was only referring to stock untouched console not having play store, modded ones can of course but not sure how compatible play apps would be with the untouched os if one were able to install play store on the console as ouya say apps need to be modified but will be interesting.

Re: Ouya
The OUYA game console is android based and has the size of a rubrik cube. There are already a lot of games like: Final Fantasy 3, Objective Combat, Volgarr the Viking and many other games announced.
To learn more about OUYA visit our ouya forum.

Re: Ouya: $99 hackable Android game console
Sorry I don't own and am not defending anything just giving my opinion. Ouya offers something that no other console can. A completely open ecosystem where anyone can develop a game. Don't like this "13" year old console? Then don't post here and go away.

As the hardware is quite similar to tablets, do you think there will be a possibility to dual boot ouyas os on a tablet and play all the games on the tablet?
i think if there are only these android games you can get via play store atm there is no problem, but if there are games that are made for ouya??

I've always wanted there to be an open-source, cheap console with modern hardware, but so many of them have failed that I'm just not sure anymore.
