Default [CDMA VZW Razr] 6.16.214 Ics Upgrade Leak (To Be Installed From 211 Ics)

It's that time again folks... leaked updates! (Yay~!)

This time I got a special treat. I did not want to leave my comfortable place with safestrap installed and booted on Arctic Rom on 211 to fastboot the 6.12.181 files, re-upgrade to 211 stock, upgrade to 214 just to see a small difference in the kernel. Therefore. I pulled and patched the biggest part of this leak update which is the boot.img (New ICS 4.0.4 kernel, hopefully fixing issues with battery life people have on 211 now!).

So two things today:
  1. Update zip to install in MotoRecovery from stock 6.16.211
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15093625/Bl...izon.en.US.zip
    MD5: 715AD085D246105EB9101F872CE4B604
    File Size: 6.7 MB
  2. Utility to flash the new kernel, and the ability to flash 211 kernel back + root if you want to.
    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15093625/Dr...ootLeak214.zip
    MD5: CBA714069ABCAFF145610D8EDD33D81B
    File Size: 15.5 MB

To root using the little utility, choose the option to flash the 6.14.85 boot.img, boot normally (have USB Debugging Enabled from Settings>Developer Options and the USB Mode set to MTP or Camera with latest moto drivers installeddrivers installed).

Then choose the root option in the utility, then go back to AP Fastboot and choose the option for 214 or 211, your choice. I suggest 214 since its newer

This will NOT get you stuck on an ICS leak and can be downgraded to 211 if you choose (or even 6.14.84 if you really wanted too.).

Quick question Matt: if I just flash the 214 boot.img will I see a change in the build # or just the kernel info? Flashed fine & now my kernel build date is 6/29. I believe that's later than 211.

Edit:nvm, brain fart.........

Cool! Can't wait to get this done this morning. I haven't had a problem with battery life, but have quirky data (may be because I'm on BW).

EDIT: backed up using Safestrap and did not flash correctly on BW using Moto Recovery (bunch of crap and then an error 7 (failed in /blah/blah/tmp). Disabling Safe-System to switch to stock 211, and updating from there. will edit again.

If I am already rooted, do I need to unroot first? I used Matt's 1.7 utility and instructions to install his ICS OTA zip and 4.0.4 root.

Edit: Never mind, I got it.

if you don't mind me asking..
how'd you get cheesecake working in ICS? or did you use Cheesecake on GB to search the servers for an update for 211 by faking your build number?

I just updated from stock .211. No noticeable differences or issues. Hopefully the battery life is improved.

If you have safestrap of course Motorola Recovery upgrades won't work.

Is there a difference in battery life? 211 sucks the juice man.

The definition of insanity is to do the same thing twice and expect different results.
