INTRODUCTION

Please read this Post #1, Post #2, Post #3 not once, but multiple times. This is a Daily Driver ROM, for those who have been with EMBRYO series of ROM, it is pillar of high quality, so updates will be few and far between. Please see Post #2 for ChangeLog and features. NOTE: THIS IS SAMSUNG TouchWiz Framework based ROM.

If you are new to flashing on the Skyrocket, please read the Stickies in this forum to get familiar with the terms. Also, before you ask a question come back to the OP to check if I have updated it, before you post, as I do update it frequently. Let's keep the post count less and relevant, do not waste a post by saying the ROM is great (I know it is great ), hit the thanks button or don't.

PACKAGING

EMBRYO-4.0 is a continuation of EMBRYO-3.2, based of Samsung leak UCLF5. So this is basically, a touchwiz interface with very little theming. EMBRYO-4.0, departs from it's previous versions, by being a very fat download. I have moved everything to /data partition, which mean you can delete the stuff that you don't want. This was mainly done, to give the option to you, instead of me dictating what should go in or not. But, Samsung and ATT bloat (except for a few apks), is definitely not there.

Please respect the work, give proper credits. You don't need permission, but don't just slap a theme on a apk, release it as a mod, I would be very pleased.

ADD-ONS

• [08-JUL-2012] init script to enable BLN for Lite Flow Lite App ONLY (if you are using BLN Control you don't need this). This is required in 4.1 since by default BLN is disabled in the included cymbaline kernel. lite-flow-lite-enable-bln-cwm5.zip

• [08-JUL-2012] Vol Wake Mod, flash this if you want the vol. buttons to wake up the phone. vol-wake-EMBRYO-4.X-ONLY-cwm5.zip

• [05-JUL-2012] Disable IME switcher (the input method notification icon). disable-ime-switcher-EMBRYO-4.X-ONLY-cwm5.zip

All the RADIOS provided here are safe to flash, they are CWM flashable zips, just download and stash in your sdcard (internal or external), boot into recovery, select the zip and flash, that's it.
NOTE: Roger's radios are RAT Unlocked, which means the Network Mode in settings will work. ATT radios are RAT Locked, Network Mode changes will have NO effect.

KERNELS

Note the default kernel with EMBRYO-4.0 is CYMBALINE-1.5, samsung kernels that came with the samsung ROM are provided here (the only thing different is a modded ramdisk to support init.d, adb root, bootanimation, etc..).

• [09-JUL-2012] STOCK UCLF6 Kernel (Official ATT SGH-I727 releas) with modded ramdisk. (Installation, just flash in CWM recovery). Download.

• [05-JUL-2012] STOCK UCLF5 Kernel with modded ramdisk. (Installation, just flash in CWM recovery). Download.

INSTALLATION

Please follow the installation instruction EXACTLY. Regardless of what you have read or followed, throw that away and please do NOT do any dark-side wipe, wiping cache 3x, etc, it is plain wasteful. If the recovery you are using is good, you should not have to do that.

Step 1) Backup, Backup. Do a Titanium Backup of all your apps. Do NOT backup system apps or data. I would also recommend a nandroid backup.

Step 2) Did you do Step 1)?

Step 3) Download the ROM. Please check the MD5SUM to be sure, the download link has the MD5SUM, added to OP.

Step 3a) Download any optional add-ons see the add-ons section. This way you can flash them right away.

Step 4) Copy the ROM and any add-ons you want to your internal or external SD Card. (if you downloaded them on a PC). Make sure you compare the sizes.

Step 5) Boot into recovery (the three finger salute or adb reboot recovery or if your existing ROM allows you to do that).

Step 6) In Recovery, go to "mounts and storage" and select "format /system" in the subsequent menu. Then select "yes" in the next menu that shows up. (NOTE: This is how it is in the recovery I use, yours maybe different, but the idea is format the "/system" partition).

Step 7) Then, issue "wipe data and cache" from the main menu. (The recovery I use does format "/data" partition and "/cache" partition in one shot, I use the touch recovery).

Step 8) Now, select the ROM zip (wherever you stored in Step 4)).

Step 9) Flash the ROM be patient....

Step 10) [OPTIONAL] Do NOT REBOOT yest. At this point flash any ADD-ON you want. This will replace any existing apps or mods that you want.

Step 11) Now you can Reboot.. Please BE Patient. You will see the touch lights light up (the cache is getting built). And then you should see the "Install Applications..." show up and all the apps that have been moved to data will be installed. DO NOT TOUCH ANY KEYS. Once it is installed, you will be presented with the Launcher Dialog asking you to pick the launcher you want. The ROM comes with the Galaxy S3 Launcher and the stock TWLauncher.

Step 12) As soon as you get the homescreen. Please "RESTART" the device, you need to do this to get the init scripts to run.

Step 13) I would strongly recommend making a TiBu backup as soon as you are done.

Step 14) Do any post installation tasks that you may need.

POST INSTALLATION TASKS

- Since a majority of the packages have been moved to /data. I would strongly recommend a TiBu backup, right away. As just in case you have to do a data wipe, you will get those apps back.

- The ROM does not come with any RADIOS, for good reason. It will leave your existing radio intact. See the radios section in this POST for all the available radios, they are all CWM flashable zips. Download, and flash in CWM, thats it.

- If you want to flash the stock kernel, flash it from the Kernels section. Again, is a CWM flashable zip. Download and flash in CWM that it, no extra steps needed.

UCLF5 (Stock) Bugfixes

• Enabled Power + Vol. Down for screenshot (I need that). Note, Power + Home will still work.
• TouchKey always on, fixed with the bundled Cymbaline Kernel.
• Settings About Phone: Display the full kernel String.
• Settings About Phone: Display the currently flashed radio.

UCLF5 apps replaced

• Replaced with AOSP Browser. (like it better)
• Replaced weather widget and app with SGS3. (like it better)
• Replaced vlingo with SGS3 S-Voice.

Galaxy SIII Launcher

• clean implementation, very smooth, h/w acceleration turned on.
• All widgets supported (include 4x4 Month, Agenda, no FC's ).
• All wallpaper's supported via launcher action.
• Enabled scrolling wallpaper.

System User Experience

• 1% battery mod. Using jkay icons (thanks!). If you want different mods, please search xda, you can do it yourself.
• Extended Power Menu (Added Data Toggle in addition to Recovery, Download).
• 15-toggle mod (include QuickPanelSettings app, to control the toggles).
• Permanently disabled low battery notification.
• Permanently disabled full charge battery notification.
• Disabled Open Network Notification by default.
• By default "Unknown Sources" is enabled. (if you are security concious disable it in Settings -> Security).
• Enabled CRT-OFF (implemented by Samsung since UCLE2).
• Enabled multiple Lockscreen pickers (the default only picks gallery). Note: picking a LWP will set both HomeScreen and Lockscreen.
• Transparent Lockscreen.
• tweaked lightsensor timing, and auto brightness levels to maximize battery performance (turn off Auto Brightness if you don't like it).

Network

• Fully functional and Clean Native Tethering (no entitlement check). All whitelist configuration supported.
• Bluetooth tethering enabled.
• Enabled Network Mode, for RAT Unlocked radios (see Radios section).
• Bunch of under the covers network tweaks.

Dialer

• Permanently disabled ascending Volume ringtone.
• Call recording.
• Enabled In-Call sound EQ.
• In Call Calendar display.
• Voicemail button will call your voicemail, regardless of whether you are using ATT Visual Voicemail.

Contacts

• Removed ATT AB sync.
• Yellow pages entry removed.

Email

• Hacked to bypass exchange security policies (verified to work with Exchange 2007 server, please provide logcat if it does not work for you.) NOTE: Both the Stock and the AOSP Email have these hacks.
• AOSP Email app, compiled from latest ICS sources.

MMS

• Pretty much unlimited recipients.
• Raised the message size limit to ATT max.
• Enabled signature option.
• Enabled voice callback number.
• Enabled vibration option.

UCLF5 TouchWiz Launcher (TW30Launcher)

• 5 icon dock.
• 4x5 App drawer.
• wallpaper scrolling support (require gallery mod which I have not included, let me know if you need this).

MISCELLANEOUS

• Fully deodexed using my stringent process.
• zipaligned
• busybox 1.20.1 included.
• ChainFire SuperSU included.
• Titanium Backup included.
• FlashPlayer installed by default.
• All apps updated to their latest version as of the release.
• Filesystems tuned at bootup.
• loopy smoothness enabled at startup.
• bunch of power tools for the uber geek.

Known issues/workarounds

---

• 4.1 ONLY: After the post flash reboot, the device will reboot itself.

This appears to be harmless at this point. I will look into it.

• Ringtones duplicates.

Rebuild your media database. Settings -> Applications -> All (tab) -> Look for "Media Storage". Select and "Clear Data".

• General FC's

Generally clear data for the particular application will resolve the issue.

• Deep Sea LWP will crash on reboots.

It will work again after few seconds. Not dug into the cause yet.

• CLOCK: Smart Alarm ringtone, no effect.
Will be fixed in 4.1

• CLOCK: Desk Clock -> Dock settings FC

1 question. when i install this rom on my phone, can i flash this over GB or do i have to do the latest odin 1 click ics? sorry if this is in the wrong place but i figure i would ask here since this is the rom i want to install.

Yes, I am using the same recovery as detailed in EMBRYO-3.2 thread. Although I have made it recovery agnostic, i.e. I am relying on really really basic recovery functions.
