Tablet apps...

OK, we all know the biggest knock against android at this point is lack of tablet apps. With the nexus 7 release many of us hopes this changes. Question is, what is preventing most popular apps to be optimized for tablets? My understanding is that unlike iOS, on android, layout, etc. Is set by DPI. How much more work is it to have layout changes for different DPI? Is Google at fault or is it just the lack of android tablet market share? What is holding all of the tablet apps back?

I think up until this tablet, there hasn't been a very competitive android tablet in the market. Sure the Galaxy Tabs were decent, and I've heard some good things about the Prime, but this is the first REAL competitor (winner) in this variety of tablets.

Being a Nexus device adds many other benefits for developers too
