I pretty much get it for free purchasing it through frys every year and it's kept me out of trouble for a while. But on topic is my only option to shut it off while using this program.

People have been losing their IMEI, no one can figure out why. Mainly after flashing from what people have claimed.
So to be safe rather than sorry, it's best to have a backup.

IMEI is your phone's ID and without it you'll get edge at best with other complications.

Thanks a bunch! I appreciate you letting me know, and I will definitely back it up. I didn't even root my T-Mobile Galaxy SIII yet, but I plan on rooting it shortly. Do we back up IMEI after rooting it, or could we and should we back it up before rooting or doing anything? Lastly, let's say we do lose our IMEI after a flash, but we did back up using this tool, would we be able to simply restore, or would we have to wipe the phone completely and start from scratch?

backup NV before doing anything. you can simply restore the IMEI, without doing a full wipe, using the NV tool.

Hi,
I am not too particularly hopeful, but I unfortunately have bricked my Wind Mobile SIII, I accidentally put the wrong bootloader when the website had changed the forum. Now the phone will not boot up or anything, it just shows up as a serial port in windows.

Pertaining to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1736477

Anyway I have was really hoping that it might be possible to use this tool to overwrite the bootloader and possibly get my phone to start up.

At the moment its showing up as Qualcomm QDLoader 9008 COM15 serial port, so I tried connecting to the device with the application, and it connected.
Unfortunately DM mode doesn't work, but Offline-D mode seemed to connect and I can properly read the NAND and it seems I can write to the NAND albiet very very slowly.

I appreciate all the hard work, so all I can do is hope.

Thanks.

Is anyone else's PhoneUtil force closing?

I'm on Synergy w/ IMO's kernel, I assumed it was IMO's kernel that was FC'ing it so I flashed back to the stock TW kernel and it's still FC'ing on me.

Just a FYI the way that I backed up my EFS file which has the IMEI file in it just by copying it when it was working of coarse and put it in my micro sd... Today I lost my IMEI for no reason I didn't flash anything just went away and I was on edge... I copied the back up that I had on my micro sd and slapped it back in my root erased the corrupt one and bam!!!! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!! Very simple

That sounds amazingly simple. How'd you just lose your IMEI out of no where though? Did you check to see if your IMEI actually displayed 0?
