i usually go to the notification bar -> turn the sound icon to silent icon.

Following your suggestion to find that somewhere in the settings menu , i went to Settings -> Sound - > Silent mode. There are three options available : Off / Vibrate / Mute.

I chose Mute. Doing so will also end up in the notification bar having the sound icon turned to silent icon.

However , problem still persists ( Incoming call ringtone muted , but messages notification still sounds )

am i missing something ?

Well...Found the solution .. If you wan't to set the SILENT MODE for both Notification and Ringtones , go to setting -> volume -> tick the "Link Notification with System Volume" <-- something like that ... Then you will have it :P

Hey Infinite96, thanks for the guide, found it !

I've also been fiddling with the "Profiles" last night , though it also achieved a solution, but i don't like it because the active profile at any point of time is not shown at the status bar, it could be confusing because the sound icon on status bar might be showing active, but if the activated profile is silent , and thus all you sounds are muted.

Anyway, "Link ringtone + notification mutes" worked for me happy camper once again Simple setting that escapes the eye

Appreciate your effort to go all the way to flash the ROM just to answer my question , Infinite96 !
