CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review instance.

From CM7, CM9, CM10, or any other ROM with recovery access
- Do a nandroid backup (just in case)
- If upgrading from an UNOFFICIAL or NON-CYANOGENMOD ROM, wipe data!

Installation from other ROMs may wipe your phone.
Q: I can't add my Google account!
A: Install the Google Apps package from CWM recovery, linked above. This is standard procedure with CyanogenMod ROMs due to licensing issues with Google.
Q: Where can I find a change log for each nightly?
Here's one made by the folks over at bbqdroid.org: http://changelog.bbqdroid.org/#vibrantmtd/cm10.1/latest
The CyanogenMod team would like to thank everyone involved in helping with testing, coding, debugging & documenting! Enjoy!
