[Help] Rooting Amoi N820

Hi all devs and members (ps.my first post)

As the title suggests, I need help rooting a Chinese Phone. Amoi n820
The device hardware is pretty awesome for the price, but I have problems
installing gApps as they are blocked on the phone.

I have attempted to root using Unlock Root "its supported?" but unsuccessful.
I have also been stalking Chinese forums

but have failed to root the device

I believe that the main problem is that the phone driver is not being properly installed.(ps tried the usb fix as prescribed in the 2nd link).
Anyone knows how to fix this?

Using this it took me less than 10 minutes to root the N820 after receiving it.
So far, the only downside I've found is that you loose the back camera (the button for switching between front/back camera is missing, and the front camera is the default).

This (Chinese) posting explains how to install the V6.0 ROM with root,Google play etc:

Alternatively, download this package: pan(dot)baidu(dot)com(slash)share(slash)link?share id=64032&uk=4130302605 which contains all you need (USB driver, Flash utility and the "perfect ROOT" ROM v6.0 image).
0) Back up all data on cellphone, charge it to at least 60% battery, do not connect it to the PC yet, and TURN IT OFF. Plug in USB end of the USB - micro-USB cable into the PC.
1) Unpack the RAR package
2) Rename directory to remove all Chinese characters
3) Unpack the N820_V6.0_ROOT_GMS.rar file (unpacks to N820_V6.0_ROOT_GMS).
4) Go into the 'USB驱动' directory, unzip and install the USB VCOM driver.
5) Go into the '刷机工具' directory and double-click on the Flash_tool.exe file. Click on "Scatter-loading" and point to the N820_V6.0_ROOT_GMS\MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt .
6) Hit F8 or click on 'Firmware -> Upgrade'.
7) Hold down the Volume Down button and connect the phone to the PC. The button can be released when the red bar starts moving.
8) After "Firmware Upgraded" window shows, unplug phone, reboot, install and enjoy.

Did you manage to get the rear camera back?
I've tried several roms, but none have made the rear camera work again...

Yes, with the referenced ROM everything is working, including the rear camera

It worked, but the SU is all in Chinese, no idea what to click or chose

Oh come on the settings button should be global for android despite the chinese.
Clicking on that you get the menu where the small A icon is for the language and then the first choice is the language change. English should be visible in the list there (hopefully)
