Exclamation [ 4.1.B.0.587 ] How To Root Xperia™ Smartphone [ Arc / Arc S & Ray]

Rooting your mobile may void the warranty and you are doing it at your own risk. Sony would be in no way responsible for any damage

Go to settings > Security > Mark "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode

================================================== ================================================== ======================================

You should have
Flashtool
http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/

------Downloads------
1 ) Arc and Arc S - Kernel
http://www.4shared.com/file/qNTvdPI6/Lt18i_41A0562_Kernel.html

Ray - Kernel
http://www.4shared.com/file/QSM6uqPU/ST18i_41A0562_kernel.html

All other users - Kernel or even try the kernels for Arc S and Ray
http://www.4shared.com/file/yte1KEDs/MT11i_41A0562_Kernel.html

2) Go to C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and Put the kernel

3) Run Flashtool click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option)
Select flashmode > ok
Setup should be like this > select OK

Follow the steps connect your mobile and flash.
Flashtool may show error after flashing kernel, no worries. Even your build number, android version won't change. Everything would remain same. So please don't go to phone settings to check anything

4) After flashing restart your device, It may not start completely, may remain at Sony logo or blank/black.
Whatever the status is, just restart your device and proceed with the rooting--->
( Make sure you close flashtool before running the rooting toolkit )
Now connect your mobile to PC and Root Your Phone
If you face problem in downloading the toolkit then here it is

If I have upgraded to 4.1.B.0.587 already, can i use your method to root the system? Will I lose any data?

Actually, I have a non-rooted, locked bootloader 4.0.2.A.0.62 Xperia Arc. I want to upgrade to ICS and root the device, but I also want to keep all my game data. I cannot use Tiantium to backup the machine cause my device is not root.

I am thinking of upgrading the device through OTA or PC Companion to 4.1.B.0.587 and then use your method to root the device. Do you think it is possible? Do you think by upgrading and rooting in this way, I can keep my data?

If I root this way are official updates lost? If not, can it still detect automatically the updates(the phone without conecting it to pc)? Also if I flash directly http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1838916 or other rooted kernel will it work ok? or is there any problem?...

Thnx for the help
