My Nexus 7 (C90, got it today) has build number JRO03S .. but I have no Idea how to extract that into a flashable *.zip.

Ok this is all you need to do

Windows open command prompt (CMD)
Linux open terminal

commands are same for both

on the tablet go into setting->developer options

and tick USB Debuggin and click OK also make sure that developer options is on at the very to right hand corner

make sure you have adb and fastboot in a folder with the required files and your nexus connected via usb

and in terminal or cmd type

Red = change to your location
blue = comment
black = commands
Code:
# Navigate to adb
cd /home/pete/android/tools

# launch adb as root and type password in linux ignore if using windows and
sudo adb devices

# make a directory to store the files

mkdir root

pull files from device

adb pull /system root/system # this will pull the entire system directory from your device which is basically the base JRO03S

now to pull the kernel

adb shell # this puts you in the device terminal (if you will)

then type

dd if=/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/LNX of=/sdcard/boot.img

exit

adb pull /sdcard/boot.img root/boot.img # this will copy the kernel and put it in a .img file
so all of the system files will be in root/system and the kernel will be in /root

hope this helps
