What you are saying is screen capture / screenshot and NOT screen recording.

nope. it starts the screen recording function on my device (i'm testing it for review). and i don't have the screen split function.

baseband: N7100XXALI5
build number: JRO03C.N7100XXALI5

Using latest sammy firmware and screen recorder will NOT work. would also not work on earlyer firmware.
