I'm having trouble returning the flash counter to 0 and making status say official instead of modified.

I followed the instructions in the OP and ODIN'd the stock firmware from Samsung. Once that was done I ODIN"d the chainfireROOT method to gain root. Once I rebooted I installed Triangle Away from the playstore and ran it.

I went back to download mode to check and everything said official with no flash count. I rebooted and went into SuperSU and clicked UNroot. I rebooted the phone and then finally did a factory reset.

When I rebooted...system status was modified again and flash count was 1.

I think I followed the instructions to a T....am I missing something?

Since unrooting, I can't even boot into recovery anymore. The phone just stays on the Galaxy Note 2 screen.

Booting normally seems to taking longer than usual, but it does still work. Download mode showed an Official binary but when I tried to access the recovery screen, it now shows Custom all across.

I received the same thing. I decided to risk it, hit start and it rooted fine.

Don't worry and just root away (use auto root). Make sure you get superSU from Play Store after rooting.

Are there any problems rooting after upgrading to 4.1.2? Will these methods still work?

Thanks in advance

Question Help Rooting on Stock 4.1.2!
I'm having trouble rooting my SGH-T889, running stock 4.1.2 rom, with Odin. Odin gets stuck after "Get pit for mapping". Then it will give an error message. I also tried Heimdall (both on Windows and Linux). On Windows, Heimdall gives me a libusb error. On Linux, I get the following error message:
Quote:

Failed to receive PIT file part #16!

I tried installing, uninstalling, and reinstalling the Samsung drivers. I tried the Galaxy Note 2 Root Toolkit. Nothing has work so far.

I should also mentioned that I charged my device prior to attempting the above, and I also tried several different usb cables/ports.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it possible to root via adb sideload?
