Thumbs up [APP] Google Play Store, version 4.1.6 [UPDATE | 14-MAY-2013]

Google released an update to Play Store update today, version 4.1.6. New APK attached, it is not themed or DPI-modded. Mostly UI updates, Settings screen is now holo light, and a few other little tweaks.

The attached APK is installable. If you install like a normal app, it will install an update to data/app. Or you can move the APK to system/app and replace your existing Play Store (Phonesky.apk or Vending.apk). Please enjoy.

Older versions still attached just in case, but you will likely be auto-updated at some point unless you freeze Google Play Services with Titanium Backup (never tried this myself, just what I've read).

And just to ease everyone's mind, don't be alarmed by the posts directly below this. @DJxSpeedy and I were trying to figure out some of the new folders and permissions when version 3.10.9 was released and before it hit the mainstream, but that has since been explained by AndroidPolice.

I think I see what you mean... the "org" folder? The APK is unmodded, just pulled from data/app on my Nexus and uploaded to Dropbox. Could you explain why this folder is suspicious and how it relates to GPS usage?

Yes, I see that now also, there is a new permission for using GPS location.

I don't see a lot of folders or anything with JP... screenshot here shows the whole contents of the "org" folder, the only folder path is "\org\keyczar\i18n" and then you can see the 5 files contained there.

I've seen a few other people in other phones' sub-forums posting that they also received this update today, so I am curious as to why Play Store now requires GPS access but not really suspicious. Hopefully we will get an explanation from Google soon!

Why would Google need to include GPS in Google play store settings? I can't see any benefit other than maybe being able to download what others close to your proximity have downloaded. I suppose it gets unknown applications a chance to shine....you know how peer2peer works right by allowing sharing, maybe that new thing under settings kind of legs users share apps...than again who the hell knows,Google does though

I could be wrong, but I read somewhere that Google is trying to stop people from downloading apps not meant for their country/region. I don't recall where I read it and for some reason I can't find it anymore. It made sense since I can't figure out another reason the gps location would matter.
Currently Using Samsung Galaxy S-3
