I've had my Optimus G less than a week and I too now have an almost identical crack running in nearly the exact same manner as in the OP's picture in the back glass. My phone has not been dropped or abused in any way shape or form. This is obviously a material defect, I'll post a picture when I get a chance.

****! Really really serious! I wonder how many N4 fans realize the same issue as Optimus G here!

and yet they are crazy about it!

AT&T is being kind enough to let me exchange the phone. I'm going to give the One x plus a try. I really loved this phone but...

So after having mine about three weeks naked, I have no cracks HOWEVER the back is full of hairline scratches. This is despite me being very careful with the phone.

I am quite convinced that the back glass is NOT gorilla glass since I have never seen hairline scratches like this on Gorilla glass, it is the very thing gorilla glass is supposed to prevent. Pretty POed that LG cheaped out on the back glass.

My brother's E971 got a total wrecked back glass. Well it sounds extreme but the reason is opposite. The phone just dropped (or should I say "slipped") from a 45 degree angle. He's trying to lay the device on an inclined position above a wooden table so the speaker sounds are not blocked while playing music. Suddenly, the phone just slipped and BAM!!! it's like the end of the world.

Not gonna post a pic for a moment....pictures can't describe how wrecked the back glass cover is....

Something to remember is people generally lay the phone back-down so one would expect the back to be more scratched than the front.
