It's enough or it's better to follow the guide in this thread?
I love my kfhd unrooted, and i don't want an update to screw my night job to get it!

Headlessbody,

Yes that post is our How to: Root the Kindle Fire HD and 2:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2069117

The description on how to move otacerts.zip is posted at the bottom of our post.

The reason we built this script is due to the number of backdoor services running on

the Kindle Fire, there are quite a few. Most send your buying habits to Amazon, we disable

this communication path. The other benefit by running this script is it helps to increase

your battery run time since it disables unnecessary services. I can completely understand

why you do not want to Root the Kindle but on the other hand you are losing out on

many benefits. This is why we designed the Noob Series, to allow anyone to complete the

tasks in the tutorials.

Just like to say thanks for the Noob series.

I've worked in IT for 30 years, but soemtimes you just want to push the buttons rather then type it all out yourself.

I rooted my KFHD, only to get the OTA update a week later. Thought I'd leave things to bed down before trying again, which I've just done following your guides. No problems at all, and hopefully I wont get borked again.

Thanks for the guide, I have now done it no problem. I was a little confused when you said (stay in apps) as I thought I had to navigate to settings-applications-apps which I can't do when unregistered but I see you just meant the main page with all my apps listed.

Does this script also disable automatic app updates from the Amazon Appstore?

menawollas,

Me too. I have been a developer since 1982, when it comes to our internal Tablets I always buy the Toolkit to make

the Mods easy. Let's face it, our lives are busy and when it is our own goodies we just want it to work!

Thank you for posting feedback.

DVDYETI,

Correct DVDYETI, I mean the Apps where all your software icons exist. So in the main Kindle Fire Menu, it would be

the APPS Tab on the Main Screen.

m4rk4,

No, it does not disable the Amazon Appstore Updates. If you would like to disable this feature you would need to go

into the Main Settings:

1. Pull down the upper status bar and choose More+

2. Select Applications, then select Apps

3. In App Settings click on Automatic Updates

4. Select Disable

That is it! We were very careful to only disable OTA and nothing else.

m4rk4,

That is a good idea to keep Amazon Store updated since they will grow over the next year, so the store will

change dramatically. Thank you for posting Feedback and taking the time to update your situation. I hope

we can help you again in the future.

Exclamation Amazon Update Service Still Operational
To All-

We are getting a number of people asking about the Amazon Update service. The question is: "Does this script disable other

applications from Updating?" The answer is: "No, the scirpt only disables OTA. The following Updates are NOT disabled:

1. Google Play Update for all purchased applications: Enabled
2. Google Play Application Update: Enabled
3. Amazon App Store: Enabled
4. Amazon Download Service: Enabled
5. Whispersync: Enabled
6. Music Automatic Download Service: Enabled
7. Silk Cache Service: Enabled
8. Video Download Service and Update: Enabled

We hope this clarifies the script functions.
