I got my HTC Butterfly from China. It has got China market HTC Marketplace Chineese and lots of chinese apps and no google play store.

Searched some but got no solution and decided to start a solution for all people.
  1. Unlock from HTCDEV
  2. Install Recovery
Download x920e Open Recovery from HERE

    Install via fastboot

    Code:
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  3. Gain Root Access via Recovery
Download and copy Root file to your x920e storage . Download from here .

    Reboot into recovery
    Install zip from sdcard
    Chose Root.zip
    Reboot system

Now you are unlocked and rooted. Let's install Google Play Store

BUMP NEW UPDATE !
  1. Download Gapps Package from goo.im or HERE !
  2. Install via OpenRecovery
  3. Now Reboot.

After reboot finish you can login with your google account.

Have Fun.

Ps: Only tried with X920e No idea about x920d etc.

X920e is HTC Butterfly, not HTC J Butterfly.

BTW, if you use OpenRecovery, you can use adb sideload, no need to copy zip to phone.

Did you backup origin rom? Pls post it also... Need it to update OTA.

I think I saw the original Recovery on another site. Let me see if I can find it again. It was a chinese site, so hopefully I bookmarked it.

I flash another rom, so cannot get OTA update. Not because recovery. I have stock recovery and boot.

Thirdpart rom cannot flash the OTA.

Doesn't seem to work for me. Rooted and have recovery installed, but when installing GAPPs, it just gives the 'Google Framework Services has stopped working' message, and the Play Store just displays 'Server error'. I'm on an X920e.

No offense to the OP but those directions are a bit lacking. For very good detailed instructions follow everything exactly as written on Post #26 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2070341&page=3

Since you are already rooted and have recovery much of it you can skip. But it should give you the latest version of gapps (the one's in the OP are quite outdated).

Which Rom did you flash? Were you successful in getting it installed?
