  1. Make sure you're on the latest TWRP
  2. MAKE A NANDROID
  3. wipe data/factory reset in recovery
  4. flash ROM
  5. flash Gapps
  6. reboot
  7. let phone sit for approximately 10 minutes
  8. reboot
  9. enjoy!

Yes. as of now there are two 4.2 kernels available for the Hercules: Cerux Kernel and All-Star Devs Kernel.

Possibly if the kernel supports 4.2.1. I personally only use the included kernel, which is maintained by the CM team. Those guys stay on top of everything so I recommend it over anything else. YMMV.
