Guide for properly install mt65xx drivers on windows 7 x64 to read back from SPFT
after spending almost half a day searching like crazy for whats wrong here with this phone or driver or windows or whatever, I managed to find a solution based on some useful member's contributions like:
yuweng. "thanks buddy"
thanks to you
JohnnyInBriz as it really seemed to be a driver issue... "but" also a port issue.
first of all I advise anyone willing to install mt65xx drivers to check out
yuweng signature and click to view the 3rd contents to find out a link to
Mediatek Driver Auto Installer and to download it but don't install yet! wait alittle and read...
now I also advise a clean uninstall of all old mt65xx drivers u might installed during testing this and that with a little handy program called:
USBDeview this program has 32bit and 64bit versions. check below to download:
USBDeview 32bit
USBDeview 64bit
now after downloading the right version for your system from the above links, launch it, now either u plug or unplug your device (android) just look in the USBDeview window for all mt65xx drivers or preloaders or android devices and select them all (use Ctrl+click to select) and right click on 1 of them and choose UNINSTALL.
close USBDeview and restart your windows.
now it's important to hit F8 before windows starts to enter Windows Advanced Startup options.
now choose from the menu:
disable driver signature enforcement
now windows will load..
make sure your device is not pluged to the computer
now you remember the auto installer from
yuweng's signature? "Link above"
now start installing it by unrar then double click:
Install.bat
drivers will be installed and if you get a windows driver signature warning message just ignore it and click on
Install Anyways!
when the auto installer is done, it'll tell you to hit enter to finish and it'll close once you do so.
Restart your Windows now.
now remember what I said about
Port problem?
try to change the USB plug of your computer when u plugin your device, now just plug it into a different USB plug than the one u used before.
now I look into my Device manager window and I see under Ports (COM & LPT1) :
Preloader USB VCOM Port (COMxx) "where the xx is the number for the com"
but hey... if u plug with or without battery and switched off phone then u won't see this lasts forever, it'll be shown for a second or 2 then will disappear (don't worry).
now to SP FLASH TOOL:
unplug your phone and remove battery..
open SP FLASH TOOL and load the scatter then head to the READ BACK section and do as shown in
rua1's
5th post
here then hit READ BACK and now if you remember u have ur phone without battery, now put your battery back and plug in your phone to the computer and there you're.... READ BACK will start.
I hope as this helped me that it'll help any one with same problem, I just wanted to write it down for myself and all of us for future easy find and use.
thanks to:
rua1 for his amazing tool.
yuweng for the auto mt65xx drivers installer, and many others things to list, for example his TUT for fixing SPFT reporting error: too large & causes region overlap... thanks buddy.
and thanks
JohnnyInBriz for your reply about driver problem as it lead me to do all this.
now I still need help understanding this line here:
Never needlessly Download preloader and DSP_BL blocks! It is always dangerous! On some models of phones (for example Alcatel) you will have a brick even if you download these blocks read from phone which you own! Always remove from them marks in SPFT!
seriously I don't understand it
