Hi guys! Thanks for your valued labours! I know these are boring questions to you, but.......
Are there any chinks of light in the 'Bluetooth tunnel'?
Is there any possibility that in the future the sd port could be modified to sd/io?
Could an sd/io slot from another PDA be modified to fit in place of the sd or are there other reasons why this won't work?
And finally, will the upgrades mentioned on xda-developers.com work over here (GB)? And will they really allow me to connect wifi to my laptop, thus allowing me to use my XDA as a modem?

No. Well, there's really small serial bluetooth adapters now, and someone just might stick one on the serial port. But then you'd still need drivers...

No clue, and the only ones to know are HTC, who haven't been articularly communicative about this device. SDIO slots are not a part you can just transplant. These are functions of chips or chipsets on the motherboard.

The upgrade allows you to use the XDA as a modem through a serial cable or using IRDA (Infrared). It will not allow you to do anything using WaveLAN. The term 'Wireless Modem' refers to the fact that GPRS and GSM are wireless, I guess...

Thanks for replying to my queries, it is very frustrating that such an aesthetically pleasing & ground-breaking piece of kit like the XDA should have so many hurdles which prevent it being used to it's full advantage.

Remember it was designed 4 years ago, before Bluetooth and SDIO. Even SD had to stretch to get into it!
