Default Internet via Activesync?

Before I flashed over to the XDA developers ROM (which I'm very happy with in every way - thanks chaps!) when my XDA was in its cradle I could get Internet Explorer to browse the web using ActiveSync as a pass-through.

Now when I tap 'Internet' the XDA drops the ActiveSync connection and tries to open a new GPRS connection.

This is problem since I'm trying to work on PDA web pages on my local network so my web server isn't visible to the Internet, but would be visible via ActiveSync as an intranet.

Anyone know how I can stop this and keep the ActiveSync pass through?

I had this problem, it turned out that when I first synced the new ROM it needed to set up a proxy for internet connection. I changed this and now it works fine.

When I changed a ROM another time and synced the XDA at work, instead of at home it seemed to find a proxy itself and worked fine straight away.

ops:
This isn't the first stupid thing I've done, or the first stupid question I've asked, and it won't be the last, but my question turns out to be b*ll*cks.

One of the 'features' found since I flashed the Developers' ROM was an O2 menu bar on the today screen, with an item labelled INTERNET.

I thought this was a simple shortcut to IE, but no. It does more than that - like dropping the ActiveSync connection and firing up a GPRS one. If I use the regular shortcut to IE in the Start-Programs menu it fires up IE and uses the ActiveSync connection no problem.

Forgive my stupidity - and thanks for the response.
