Hey all.
I just uncovered my 1st Gen. Kindle Fire and I thought it would be a fun little project to try and root it and install a stock Android OS on it.
Anyway, it's running 6.3.4 and I downloaded KFU on my WIndows 10 PC, successfully ran the "install_drivers.bat." So when I open up KFU it says "
ADB Status: Online" but "
Boot Status: Unknown." I went ahead and ran Option 2) "Install Permanent Root with Superuser" anyway, but it just stops and says this:
Fastboot uses a different device than ADB.
You should check device manager for "Kindle" or "Amazon"
If you see it, rerun the driver installer that came packaged with KFU.
Installing FFF...
< waiting for device >
I have rerun the driver install twice, and I still get the same message. I don't know why it keeps getting stuck, but I've kind of run out of ideas so I decided to come here and see if anyone could offer any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
