MDA II vs. TREO 270
 OK, I got my MDA II Friday and spent all <yesterday setting it up. Looks great, works great, so it seems I'll be getting happy.
I'e been using the PALM-based TREO 270 from Handspring in the past, so it seems reasonable to compare the two devices:
This is a full win for the MDA II! The display is bright, colorful and quite large. If you've ever tried using a TREO outside in sunlight you will know what an improvement the MDA is.
A win for the TREO. The MDA seems to weigh about twice as much. Carrying it in your pocket will likely strain your suit, so you will need that belt.
Another Win for the TREO. Microsoft keeps up its reputaion as oneof the key sponsors of nuclear energy plants - you probably need them to keep all those Windows PC's charged.
This is a mixed bag. The TREO Phone seems easier to use, but the MDA has more features. I keep making unwanted calls with the MDA because I'm still not used to the interface. Also, you can use the keyboard on the TREO where you have to use the stylus on the MDA.
No contest, the TREO doesn't support any of this.
The MDA has a much more complete portfolio of programs that come with it, though you can prbably find just as many in the web for both OS.
The Explorer certainly beats the TREO Blazer on this. No contest.
Only the MDA II has this, but you usually don't need memory extensions on a Palm OS device. On the other hand, I bough the SanDisk WiFi SD-Card with the MDA, so now I can browse without making T-Online too rich with GPRS.
So, what is the conclusion: I desperately wanted WiFi and Bluetooth, so there is no question for me thatthe MDA II is my choice. But, if your focus is using it as a Phone with Organizer, buy the TREO or wait for the new TREO 600.
