I modified the Nfc.apk of different bases and ROMs to offer you the ability to use the NFC chip of your HTC One not only while you are active but also while the screen is off and/or while the lockscreen is shown.

You have three options when to use NFC:
  • lockscreen and screen off
  • lockscreen
  • unlocked

USAGE
  1. Rename the Attachment to Nfc.apk
  2. Backup your /system/app/Nfc.apk and Nfc.odex (if existing)
  3. Delete /system/app/Nfc.odex (if existing)
  4. Replace the original in /system/app - to keep permission use adb:
    • adb remount
    • adb push Nfc.apk /system/app
  5. Reboot phone (adb reboot)
  6. Disable NFC
  7. Enable NFC

The compatibility depends on the framework/base. If your ROM has the same specifications like one existing you can use the posted.
If none of the version work (test it!) make an Feature Request

tried the version with screen off, doesn't seem to work on arhd 10.3..

in fact, I get the message 'not installed' upon installing.

thankfully, the nfc still works with screen on, lockscreen off

Sorry, but how can you get the message on a adb push? At what point do you get it?

oops, my bad, didn't read the whole thing carefully, will try again and let you know.

Confirmed working here on arhd 10.3, thank you!

One question though: need to replace the app each time I reflash rom or only on clean rom install?

I'm just learning the benefits of nfc and just how useful it can be. I'll try this soon and report back. I'd love to be able to use nfcwith the screen off.
