Default GENERAL COUNTRY ID ERROR WORKAROUND: IT WORKS ALL DEVICES!!!

Hi,
I read somewhere in this forum the following procedure:

extract the Upgrade.exe file (use WinRAR)
edit the RUU.conf file
Add the following line
[CHECKCEID_TYPE]=1
Save changes
Now run BaUpgradeUt.exe
It will say that it will upgrade to this version.
However when the device enters bootloader mode the upgrade util gives a country error. (Don't panic)
Simply restart BaUpgradeUt.exe while the device is still in it's cradle.
Now it will install without a country error.

TESTED ON QTEK9090 AND IMATE JAM: ALWAYS WORKED !!!

bye

Good suggestion, unfortunately it won't work with the 1.11 Finnish ROM.

ok what i do to upgrade and works good for me..... i use this file MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe and then follow the steps which italos stated but without editing the RUU.conf file.... so use the mentioned file and follow these steps:

""extract the Upgrade.exe file (use WinRAR)
Now run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
It will say that it will upgrade to this version.
However when the device enters bootloader mode the upgrade util gives a country error. (Don't panic)
while it's in the bootloader mode (black screen with some writing in it" Serial v1. or whatever")
Simply run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe while the device is still in it's USB cable.
Now it will install without a country error."

and it works in the finnish ROM cuz my device is Imate Jam and i just flashed it this morning with the above steps........

best luck

this solution works with any version!!

the clue is that if the device information is erased, it cannot compare.
