Use a root file explorer to do process. I used ES File Explorer.

Mount system R/W.
Navigate to device folders.
Open "etc" folder.
Open "snd_soc_msm" folder.
Open file "snd_soc_msm_2x" file with editor.
Look for the following section below, it is at 41% using ES editor.

SectionDevice
Name "Speaker"
Comment "Speaker Rx device"

EnableSequence
'PRI_RX Channels':0:Two
'RX5 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX5 MIX1 INP2':0:RX2
'RX6 DSM MUX':0SM_INV
'LINEOUT2 Volume':1:100%
'LINEOUT4 Volume':1:100%
'RX5 Digital Volume':1:65%
EndSequence

The exact line you want to edit is
'RX5 Digital Volume':1:65%

Only change the percentage amount, and only change it in small increments.

I only needed to set mine to 70% to get the extra volume I needed, anything above that gets really distorted.

Be sure to mount the system back to R/O.

Reboot and the volume change will take effect.

Hit thanks if I have helped.
Also if anyone has any questions just PM me.

I've always had wicked low call volume on anything cm10 based. I even managed to find in call volume in that file and give that a boost too. Now I need to turn it down a notch to keep my eardrum intact. Thanks!

FINALLY!!!
Hey eheinzeiii...been looking to increase volume for ages, tried all the apps that "supposedly" would do it...they never did...but THIS DOES WORK!

And I'm probably on the lower rungs of knowing how to code or change stuff thats not specifically in some setting in a menu...had no clue what mount r/w meant, heh...(but i figured it out)... and I'll tell you...70% is loud son! I may back it down to 68 or so.

This is like the 2nd time I've ever posted on XDA, your tip definitely needed some applause.

Have a good one and thanks again!

(updated: Just looked and its the 1st time I've ever posted)

slim bean build 8 this just gets me stuck at the boot screen after rebooting, warning other users, no idea why but i even tried clearing cache and dalvik after it looped the first time, it comes up with app optimization screen and says starting apps but then freezes there instead...

Just to be sure... This is only for external speaker volume?... Or does this affect headset volume as well?
