You will need to be rooted to run those commands, also you can perform a fast check from a root console via "getprop service.iq.active"

Have you had any problems since you disabled it?

No issue's other than CIQ turning back on once. I made a SH script based on the one in the post I linked, and every time I boot my phone I just run it to make sure it's still off. I have not had any annoying GPS messages since.

However there are still other applications using the CIQ library s that I would like to learn more about.

Follow this tutorial to root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2362657 then i suggest installing SuperSU, and root file browser, and a terminal emulator, and TrevE's logging checker app "Which can automatically remove part of CIQ if you get the paid $1 version".

I've already been rooted since the day I had the phone .

I successfully did this and the GPS hasn't turned on; it was doing so every time I called or a phone call was received.

Save THIS as disable_services.sh

chmod, and chown it, then launch it from a elevated terminal session ie "./disable_services.sh"

I think I have figured it out what have been turning On the GPS, if you guy's are using Google chrome or default web browser, and enabled the location setting your GPS will be online for as long as it is, I just turned it off and it worked for me as for now, my GPS is Off since 3 hours and haven't turned On, I've made calls and used maps but it only worked till the maps were using it other than that it's in peace since than, tell me if it worked for you ?

There wouldn't all of a sudden be this many users coming out saying the exact same thing. I had to disable carrier iq.. Battery life has never been so great!

Same thing for me. I thought that fixed it. Then the next morning sure enough the GPS went nuts.

I actually called at&t and the person on the phone didnt have the slightest clue what i was talking about. I ended up hanging up out of frustration. How do we get a message to at&t to turn this crap off (or at least fix it) so it doesnt rape our battery? Would they care at all even if we found the right person to complain too?

Factory resetting is not a "proper" fix in my opinion. Because you will not be able to get updates. If you update your going to have the same problem.
