Does it echo everytime ? Do you have an SD card inserted all the time ? try taking the SD card out while your on a call.
If this dont work....
Try an upgrade to the latest ROM, read the first 3 pages of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25801 and use "Pug"s ROM as it has the newer Radio ROM version.

Ok guys I annoyed the hell out of I-mate for months now about my Alpine that echo’s bad in my car kit (same car kit works great with Himalaya)
I can't even talk to another alpine with car kit as the echo gets stuck in a loop.

They sent me this cab file that they say will fix my problem.
Guess what it fixed nothing!

Maybe some others can try it.
Can some one who knows enough have a look in the Cab and tell me what it does if anything or maybe improve on it so it does work.

I hope it can help someone!
Let me know if it does or does not!

Regards Emm

I had exactly the same problem... Until I installed PhoneAlarm and set up one of the profiles for handsfree operation.

No more echo!

Sorry... Headset is what I meant. :?

Within the profile you decide to use for Bluetooth headset operation, ensure Radio Settings are as follows:
Activate Radio On (Turns phone on)
Activate IR Off (Unless you need InfraRed, of course!)
Bluetooth On (Obvious, really!)
Headset On (Seems to ensure that the external mic is turned off)
Activate WLAN Off (Again... unless you need it on)

What is your fave skin for phoneAlarm? I use Tinny-Blue, because it blends in well with the Windows Default Today screen in Windows Mobile 2003SE.

Hope this has solved your problem. Otherwise, forget Bluetooth headsets and go for the stock wired handsfree. At least it lets you use VoiceCommand properly!

The wired handsfree car kit is what I am using.
Thats what the echo is with.

I dont have bluetooth headset.
MS Voice command works well.
Using Tinny-Blue same reason it fits in with background.

Emm

Sorry, Emm... Didn't realise.

To make up for my ignorance, I tested the phoneAlarm headset option using my own wired handsfree - using an extremely scientific method: the conclusion being that my wife told me that I sounded like I had my head in a bucket under the normal profile (no headset option), but much better with the Car profile (headset option enabled).

So... there you have it!
