Default Can we speed this bugger up?

Hi all,

Just wondering if any god like XDA2s guru can advise me what I can get rid of out of the startup directory because this bugger is running soooooooo slooooooow

here's whats in there:

aPersaveStar
Camera_Detect
CheckAutoRun
ChgDfLnk
clear_notify (I think this is supposed to help!)
cPerSaveStar
IA_Caller_ID
nPerSaveStar
PocketNav.exe (Cool app to close programs from today screen)
poutlook
RegNotify
Run_BTTrayCE_10
SmartFilter (Need this)
STK
tPerSaveStar
VoiceCommand (Useless, either that or my Yorkshire accent sounds like Swahili!)

Surely I can get rid of some of this stuff, my Windows XP does'nt have this much stuff open on startup!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

J

This is based on the XdaII so I'm not sure of a few but...

Dump the poutlook, it'll be loaded when you first need it for contacts, calendar, etc. If you don't use photo caller id, dump the ia_caller_id too; VoiceCommand can go as well if it doesn't work for you.

The other thing to consider is overclocking the thing - try PocketHackMaster or XCPUScalar, they might help.

Default Registrysettings to speed up

EnableCache must be 1.

\HKLM\System\StorageManager\FATFS change CacheSize from 0 to 1024
===============================================

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\

Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768

Close registry editor and soft reset.

Just leave poutlook.lnk in StartUp. Everything else can be move to a "StartUp No" folder.
