Default MSN Mobile retail version won't install -please help if poss

Got an MDA pro and miss MSN badly at work, so I bought the retail MSN mobile.

When I go to install it I get the error of " No Windows Mobile or Smartphone device is connected via ActiveSync", blah blah, ensure device is connected, try again...

It is connected, synced, icon is green and I can explore device from dekstop.

Opening the install exe with WinRAR doesn't yield any .cab files I could just run on the device, and I have done the activation thing of MSN Mobile as well.

I have AS 4.0 (didn't work on 4.1 before you say - I went back to see if it would work on the 'official' AS), MDA Pro, Win XP, USB connection.

Help! Need my fix of MSN and my hotmail account back.

Joe:

I installed the jasjar rom on my MDApro and skipped the extended rom install by softresetting my ppc right after a hard reset so it will not install the extended rom files. after that I installed the Signed_UNI_TMONL_Conn_112101 cab from my old extended rom from the MDA the have the gprs settings.

Now I have a fast working MDA pro with MSN and if you want You can install SKype from the extend rom the you uploaded yourself

Good luck

It was something to do with my old PC I use for programs; it's XP SP1 and my games PC let it install fine which is an updated SP2+ XP machine.

Thanks for the suggestions; when I have the confidence, I will do the full upgrade to WWE.[/b]
