Default Something about O2 Xda Atom

O2 official websit has already introduced Xda Atom in the market. I am wondering if anyone has already seen it in HK yet. If yes, I have some questions below and please help me out with. thank you very much.

1. How much is it?
2. Is English and Chinese version also available in HK?
3. Who carries this PDA?

1) It's HK$4,980 so it's approx. US$638.50
2) English version will be out before X'mas so they say.. And Chinese version in Jan.
3) It's not out yet, but you should be able to get it anywhere *if* they don't sell out... Or just order it from Expansys...

Some O2 info on the HTC Prophet:

http://www.seeo2.com/product/XdaAtom...ProductInfo.vm

For some strange reason, the specs listing shows some peculiar "mistakes" (such as CPU 'Intel PXA272 416MHz' instead of 'Texas Instruments OMAP850 200 MHz' as quoted from Mobile.review...

Any more info, anyone?

Not that strange Leon... In fact YOU are making some mistakes by getting your devices mixed up

1) O2 Atom is NOT HTC Prophet, but a device made by Quanta.
2) O2 Atom has PXA272 where HTC Prophet has sloppy OMAP850/195Mhz

I really like the Prophet, although HTC should have given it a faster CPU.

The price of O2 Atom in HK should be HK$5980. For $4980 is Dopod 818 Pro.

ops: ops:
I stand corrected...

What's the point of "wasting" such a wonderful device with a less-capable engine? haven't consumer electronics manufacturers learned from carmakers?

Sorry.

Default Are someone actually owing the Dopod 818 Pro yet?

Althought the device is out for sale for almost a week now, there doesn't seems to be anyone that actually owes one.

I'm dying to hear from first hand opinion about the prophet.

Frankly speaking, the engine for the prophet is not that bad. The only problem is that probably none of the Pocket PC are currently optimise to take advantage of parallel processing using the OMAP processors.

Given that Universe and Wizard are also using OMAP, I would think it will take 6 months to a year before the software developers will do something about it, and that means more upgrade $$$.

Although Prophet is about SGD$200 cheaper than Atom, the savings is zeroised if you take into consideration of the additional software upgrade costs.

Demand and Supply. That's how free trade works.

Default Expansys - O2 XDA Atom (HK Warranty, EN)

Hi Guys

Bit of a newbie - I'm considering buying the atom from expansys which is available on this link

http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=126950

Would anyone be able to give me a feel on the implications of the HK warranty.

I'm a little concerned I may end up with a rushed out model with poor english etc etc etc

Cheers guys
