Default XDA Atom Waste of Money

I bought XDA Atom a three days ago and used it has got good features but the device is very slow and it hangs all the times. If u try n open the camera it hangs. Even at the configuiration time also it hangs. At last finally i have sold this phone i was pretty fed up of it. It was damn slow and hangs all the time. The response time is very slow.

So I really recommend dont even think of buying it.

Jeet, you like collecting phones don't you!

I'd love to get my hands on an Atom, don't think they're on sale in the UK yet. Nice to develop for WM5 on a small device for the pocket. Wizard isn't really for me, Atom seems perfect...

Have you tried soft resetting and sidestepping the customised extended ROM?

My atom was also a laggy.
I got rid of the O2connect that is always loaded from startup and it now flys.

I haven't had any lockups after 4 days of hard testing, and while the camera is laggy it's not that bad.

All in all I think my atom is amazing, and I'm very happy with it.

Simon

Hi Jeet,
Based on yr reviews..I ordered one atom to resale..and I checked it thoroughly.I did not notice any lock ups...What I did, I hard resetted it and then started exploring...also did the self test.

THere's nim extended ROM I think...the Memory management is totally differrent...something like 2003SE but on WM5...]
u have 60 MB RAM, 22 MB of Main Memory and 43.86 MB of Storage

So it is entirely differrent...I shd say a Mix of HP iPaqs system with WM5..one needs to investigate more...
Just too many devices, can"t list them here now

Hi Simon.

Do you mind telling us how you removed it from the startup?
You can say that I'm not familiar with the registry, but I've edited it.
I'm planning to remove more than that O2 connect. The MediaPlus SMS plus seem useless to me too.

Thanks!

Hi there,

To remove it just go into file manager and when windows / startup.
There are shortcuts to the apps that get loaded every time you reboot.

I just removed them and my atom is now much faster, i.e. you don't get those nasty pauses every now and then for no reason.

Simon

My Indonesian cousin recently got an XDA Atom too with the same observations as you guys.

As far as i'm concerned:
considering the enhanced features like WiFi and a 2MPx camera, with the processor type/speed not considerably improved, "lagging" and "hanging" is not surprising.

Too bad you sold the phone though. Usually 1st edition O/S programs have a lot of bugs. Most probably an upgraded program available in 3-6 months time may solve the existing problems

I have the same negative experience and I belive it is all software related and can be fixed. Once again, hardware spec is not everything, at the end of the day it is human being making things work. Hope O2 will learn from it and qucikly fix Atom before damge of the O2 name is too deep to be reparied.

my issue with the Atom is only the outgoing sound quality. Ive had it for 2 days and everyone Ive spoken with has had troubles hearing me, complaining of 'muffled' sound and very low volume....

anyone else have this? I guess I should be returning mine? Ive not seen many complaints about this...
